wells fargoThe Brexit fiasco hit the market pretty hard over the span of two trading sessions, especially taking down the Financial sector, as the threat of low interest rates for a longer period of time took its toll.  The beating was bad enough to move some of the big names close to their 52-week low, with some even making new lows.

A true DGI investor can always find that silver lining in the dark cloud.  When the noise has ceased and the dust has settled, what you have left are great names trading at discounted prices…and I could not sit idle and watch.

On Friday, the markets went crazy over “Brexit”.  Almost every dividend stock imaginable was bleeding red and lots of panic was induced.  This is what makes the U.S. stock market so volatile.  It can swing wildly on any news, even when it does not nationally affect the United States markets.  However, volatility is not a bad thing, unless one lives on portfolio drawdown’s.  Most DGI investors saw this as an opportunity to buy quality companies at discounted share prices.  That is exactly what I did.

Milestone Achievement #9

It has been a long while since the last Milestone the TOL’s accomplished.  The most recent was Milestone #8 accomplished on March 15, as we became completely credit card debt free.  Since that time, we have been diligently working towards financial independence and in the process have come even closer to achieving a few more milestones.

Well, we are glad to announce we can scratch one milestone off of the list.

This is our Net Worth update.  This is where we lay it all out for the world to see.  It’s where all our income, expenses, assets and debts come together.

I have to admit, these are my favorite posts to produce.  I enjoy tracking our passive income; however, passive income is a “piece” of the puzzle.  The whole “overall picture” lies in that Net Worth amount.  $1,000 a month in dividend income looks good until it is put next to a $-100,000 net worth.  In my humble opinion, as your Net Worth grows, you will move closer and closer to Financial Independence.
